Theres been an abundance of “benches” on LA’s Craigslist recently (benches is in quotes because the last one seems very coffeetablesque to me. But there’s noting to stop you from sitting on it so I’m taking some license here and calling it a bench.)

1. A slat wood jobber. It’s the cheapest of the lot at $120, even though there’s really no noticeable difference between it and bench number 3, which weighs in at $150.[CL]

   

2. Easily the most coffee table-like of the lot. It’s solid wood and made by Lane. I think the $130 price tag represents a fine middle ground between the extremes of the two slat benches (no one likes extremes).[CL]

   

3. And the final slat wood bench/coffee table. Admittedly it does have nicer looking legs than bench number one. And the slat seems tighter which would make it nicer for say, setting champagne glasses on. So perhaps there is some merit to the $20 price differentiation. [CL]
